Player ‘Very Close To Signing’ For Arsenal – Gunners Ready To Make ‘Great Offer’ To Get Deal Done

In need of improving their attack for the 2022/23 season, Arsenal are looking at a new No.9 and Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus has been identified as one of their targets.

Having parted ways with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January, the Gunners will now see Alexandre Lacazette leave as a free agent.

Eddie Nketiah is reportedly close to signing a new deal. Even if he stays, Arsenal will need to bring in at least one new striker and have been regularly linked with the Manchester City player.

The Premier League winners have deals in place for Erling Haaland and Julián Álvarez, and the duo are likely to make it hard for the Brazil international to get game time, if he decides to stay at the Etihad.

Jesus is expected to leave Manchester City and is not short of options, with Mikel Arteta’s side currently in the lead to secure his signature, according to Brazilian journalist Rodrigo Oliveira.

He made these claims when speaking to Calciomercato.it, and provided more information on Arsenal’s efforts to sign the player.

“Many top clubs are on Gabriel Jesus, but the one in pole position is Arsenal,” Oliveira said.

“The player wants to leave Manchester City. Jesus is very close to signing with the Gunners, he is very suited to English football and wants to stay in England and Arsenal want to make a good offer, so Arsenal will probably take on Gabriel Jesus, who lost space with Brazil in the recent months.

“Many players have overtaken him in the hierarchy [national team], which is why he wants to stay in England. At the same time, Arsenal are ready to make a great offer, perhaps even for €50-60m and are in pole position.”
