London rivals considering £17m move for Arsenal loanee

West Ham United have declared interest in Arsenal centre-half Konstantinos Mavropanos, who is currently on loan at Stuttgart with the Hammers are willing to pay £17 million (€20 million) for the player, according to German outlet Bild.

The Greek star failed to break into the Gunners setup upon arriving from Giannina in the 2018 winter transfer window.

The defender was shipped out on a short-term loan to Nuremberg two years ago before joining Die Schwaben on a season-long loan the following summer.

He became a regular fixture in the team’s defence, who extended the talent’s loan stay by another campaign.

The same report states Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side have the option of making his move permanent this summer by forking out just €3.5 million.

The 24-year-old Mavropanos seems receptive to the idea of continuing his journey with them past this term.

But as per the aforementioned paper, he’ll give leaving Mercedes-Benz Arena a thought if a ‘top club’ comes knocking on the door.

The Irons are prepared to continue challenging for European spots under manager David Moyes and have earmarked certain roles which they need to reinforce in the summer.

Central defence is one such area and the north London giants-owned youngster, to that end, has emerged as a transfer target.
