Live Transfer Updates: Arsenal star finally 'agrees' £11m deal to join Premier League rivals

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has edged closer to sealing an exit from the Emirates this summer as Mikel Arteta reshapes his squad ahead of the 2022/23 season.

The Gunners have seen four new incoming signings this summer with Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos and Matt Turner all joining the club. Turner’s arrival all but signalled the end for Leno at the Emirates with the American goalkeeper set to be Aaron Ramsdale’s understudy next season.

Newly-promoted side Fulham have been heavily linked with making a move for the 30-year-old, with reports suggesting an agreement is ‘close’. Leno is currently with the rest of the Arsenal squad at the club’s four-day training camp in Germany as the Gunners prepare for their pre-season fixtures.

According to SkySports in Germany, Leno has a verbal agreement with Fulham with a contract until 2025 currently on offer. Arsenal are after a fee in the region of £11m, with the 30-year-old keen on a move to the Cottagers.

Should an agreement be close, as it’s being reported, Leno will be unlikely to feature in Arsenal’s pre-season match against Bundesliga 2. outfit Nurnberg on Friday afternoon. The 30-year-old’s agent, Joannis Koukoutrigas, previously confirmed Fulham’s interest in his client: “He is a German national goalkeeper, has always performed well at Arsenal and is an absolute team player,” Koukoutrigas told German outlet BILD, via the Evening Standard.
