Arteta furious, United to hijack two Arsenal transfer targets

Manchester United have shown interest in signing Lisandro Martinez from Ajax and Youri Tielemans from Leicester City. Arsenal previously were front runners for both players. However United have come in the last minute to sign both players.

Martinez was earlier hinted with a move to the Emirates as Arsenal made a bid around the region of 30M. However, Ajax rejected the bid as it was too low. Ajax rejected another bid from Arsenal until United came into the field. Erik Ten Hag is the manager of United and has worked with Martinez during his tenure at Ajax. United looks to take advantage of this relationship and get Martinez.

United need a central defender as their center backs have been poor this season. Captain and United’s first-choice center back Harry Maguire has been in poor touch all season. Moreover, the rest of the center back have been struggling with injuries. Raphael Varane came into the squad to bolster the defense however he had an injury-filled season. The other backup center backs were not up to the mark. They want to get Martinez to help their defense. United have already got hold of Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord in the transfer window.

However United does not only have problems in their defense, The midfield has been subpar as well. United do not possess a good defensive midfielder ever since Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini left the club. United have struggled without a defensive midfielder this season as they used McTominay and Fred in double pivot.

The Red Devils look to sign Youri Tielemans from Leicester City. Tielemans is one the best defensive midfielder in the Premier League. Moreover he is a technically gifted player, One that United have been lacking in the past couple of years.
