Another Manchester City star who Arteta admires asked agent to open talks with interested clubs – Player will be available around £50m

Mikel Arteta has previously described Jack Grealish as a “top player” amid rumours surrounding the forward’s future at Manchester City. A report from 90Min claims that the England international has asked his agent to find another club for 2023, believing that he won’t be involved at the Etihad Stadium next season.

The 27-year-old hasn’t quite hit the heights of his Aston Villa days, despite his £100million move to join Pep Guardiola’s side. This campaign, Grealish has managed just three Premier League appearances, scoring his first of the season in last weekend’s victory over Wolves.

The ball-carrying winger has still had the underlying numbers to back up his best form, though playing in a team full of stars and under a rotation policy has made it tough for him to shine. This could all lead to the report of his desire for a move away, should that be true.

That may be the cue for Arsenal to make their move, with there still being a talismanic type figure in there as well as a homegrown talent to help reach the quota as well as bolster the squad depth. Grealish is said to have “flirted” with the possibility of a move to the Emirates Stadium before, while fans have also seen his move as a “dream” transfer before he joined City.

Even Arteta is impressed, giving his verdict on the forward back in 2020, saying: “He is a top player, great talent, he is player who can make a difference at any moment in the game.

“He has this personality against any opponent, at any ground, to take the ball in any area of the pitch and he can make the difference, so we have to look after him.”

CIES Football Observatory currently have Grealish valued at £52million, nearly half the transfer fee Man City paid for him from Aston Villa. He would be a potentially high-profile capture for the Gunners if it were to happen, however it remains to be seen how much he could be along with how he would fit the current transfer strategy and project.
