‘Special’ player agrees terms with Arsenal and is expected to sign this summer – Fabrizio Romano

Youri Tielemans still expects to join Arsenal this summer despite the saga going a little quieter in recent weeks.

Fabrizio Romano has told Caught Offside that the fact that Arsenal have focused on other deals of late has not changed their interest in the Belgian.

He still expects to be a Gunners player by the end of the window, but there is apparently growing interest in his services.

Leicester are waiting to see how much money they get from selling Tielemans before dipping into the market for his replacement.

“From the player’s perspective, he still expects this move, but Arsenal will have to be quick as other clubs have been inquiring about Tielemans in the last few days.

“Certainly, Leicester would sign a replacement but so far they are waiting to understand how much they would receive as final fee from Tielemans deal. He’s in the final year of his contract, so there could still be some back and forth here as clubs won’t want to pay over the odds for someone who will be a free agent in a year’s time.”

Tielemans has been described as ‘special‘ by former Leicester captain Wes Morgan, who said: “Youri is a special player.

“The amount of work he does, off the field and in the gym and the hours he puts in is the reason why he is producing these magical moments.

“He is always the type of player to be doing extra shooting practice at the end of the game. If you keep working hard like that, then it pays off.

“Now you see the best of him. He wants to add goals to his game. Add assists to his game and he is producing that on a weekly basis.”
